Laboring for Weeks?

Laboring for weeks is just what I seem to do. Reagan came at 36 weeks and 6 days. Labor with her began at 34 weeks and this pregnancy with Hutch has proven to be exactly the same.

Whew! What a crazy couple of weeks.

Two weeks ago at 34 weeks pregnant, I began dilating. At my dr. visit, I was 1.5 centimeters and 50% effaced and at a -3 station (for all of you who even know what all that gobbly goop means). I was sent to the hospital with contractions 8 minutes apart and considered to be in pre-term labor. They stopped the contractions with a series of shots of Terbutaline.

A week later I returned to the dr. for my 35 week checkup after having had fairly strong contractions all week and found out I was 3 centimeters and 60% effaced. Because my labor was progressing still, the dr. sent me back to the hospital where I stayed for 3 days and they performed a Magnesium treatment and administered sterioids to Hutch for his lungs. It was AWFUL. Maybe, just maybe, worse than labor. My contractions eventually spaced from every 2-4 minutes to 15 minutes and they let me go home.

Since then, we've made one more trip to the hospital for bleeding and contractions where I was checked and sent home. At that visit, I was 3 centimeters and 70% effaced and a -2 station.

Today - Hutch is holding on in there. I'm 36 weeks and 4 days. Still having contractions - sometimes 5 minutes apart and sometimes 15 minutes apart. I was checked again today at the dr. and there was no change.

Please join us in praying for God's perfect timing in the life of little Hutch. We want what is best for him. We are so very anxious and can't wait to meet him - and with each day that passes, we are becoming more impatient and I am becoming more tired. Pray for me - because I'm on complete bedrest and it is no fun for me. I hate to lay still - especially when I know it is helping delay the arrival of our new baby!

Just wanted to post a little update.

We will do our best to keep you updated as things change - or don't change. We love you all an thank you for your prayers!

I will be praying for you and Hutch both! I definitely know what it's like having to go back and forth to the hospital in pre-term labor and having it stopped with shots. I pray for comfort and peace during your bed rest and I pray that Hutch comes when God sees fit. Take care!

I know you don't really know me, but I went through the same thing with all three of my babies! I know it is very hard, because you are exhausted even before the baby comes. I will definitely keep you in my prayers. At least at this point the baby would be okay. My second one was in the NICU for 8 days, and although horrible, I look back now and it allowed me to regain some strength after contracting for four weekd, and I was sleeping that first week which never happens. Glad to know you are hanging in there. Hutch may never know what a sacrifice you made, but God does : )!

Aww... I'm sorry. I hope the rest of your bedrest isn't too bad. That would be hard with a 3 year old running around. Can't wait to hear when Hutch arrives!
